The Regina Police Service is conducting two separate investigations involving firearms from overnight.
At approximately 3:46 am, on Saturday, May 22, 2010, police were dispatched to a house in the 1400 block of Garnet Street for a firearm call. The incident occurred in the back yard of a house in the 1400 block of Garnet Street. One female was transported to hospital with a gun shot wound. The female was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:55 am. This is now a homicide investigation. The name and age of the deceased will not be released until next-of-kin are notified. Police are working with the office of the Chief Coroner.
At approximately 4:06 am, on Saturday, May 22, 2010, police were dispatched to a house in the 1100 block of Wascana Street for a firearm call. The incident occurred on the street in front of a house in the 1100 block of Wascana Street. One male was transported to hospital in serious condition.
At this time police are gathering information and conducting two separate investigations. There is nothing to indicate a connection between these two incidents; however, this is something our investigators will be looking into. Both investigations are active and ongoing.
