Two male youths, ages 15 and 16, both of Regina, have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that occurred at about 4:06 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010, in the 1100 block of Wascana Street. The arrests, which occurred separately, were carried out just after 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010.
As a result of investigation into the May 22nd shooting on Wascana Street, that sent a 21 year-old Regina male to hospital, police investigators identified two male suspects. On May 27th, at about 7:08 p.m., patrol and plainclothes members located one of the suspects, operating a vehicle in Regina. Mindful of risk to public safety, at the earliest opportunity, patrol members activated emergency equipment and succeeded in stopping the vehicle in the 1500 block of Rupert Street. There were two occupants of the car. Both were taken into custody without incident. It was determined the passenger had no involvement in this matter, so he was released. The 16 year-old male driver was detained by police.
Just after 7:00 p.m., a second suspect believed to be involved in the Wascana Street shooting was observed by police members walking in the area of 6th Avenue and King Street. This suspect, a 15 year-old male, was taken into custody without incident.
Charges against both youths will follow, pending further investigation. There are no other details for release at this time.
