The Regina Police Service has received confirmation from the Coroner of the death, this afternoon, of the 17 year-old male injured last night in a skateboarding incident in Northwest Regina. The teen’s name will not be released at this time.
Last night, Thursday, June 3, 2010, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Regina Police Service Communications Centre received a report of a young male who was receiving emergency medical treatment after having fallen from a skateboard. The incident happened between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. in the area of Wadge Street and Wellband Drive in Northwest Regina. A vehicle, believed to be involved in the incident, and the driver were still at the scene. Police arrived and spoke with EMS personnel who transported a 17 year-old male to hospital with injuries described as life-threatening. Other police members arrived and secured the scene, starting the process of gathering any physical evidence and conducting interviews with those present. Preliminary investigation indicates the 17 year-old injured male was holding onto, and being towed by, a vehicle just prior to his fall. At this stage, there have been no charges laid in connection with this investigation.
