The Regina Police Service is advising the public of a recent sexual assault that occurred on Friday, July 16, 2010 and is asking the public for any information that could assist in this case.
On Friday, July 16, at approximately 1:33 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the 2800 block of Rae Street for a report of a sexual assault that occurred approximately 15 to 30 minutes earlier. The victim, the 34 year-old female resident of the house, woke up to the sound of footsteps in the house. She opened her eyes and saw an unknown male in her bedroom. It’s alleged the male committed a sexual assault against the female and then fled. The woman called her husband who then contacted police. Police believe the suspect may have entered the house through an unlocked door. The suspect is described as male, Caucasian, 30 to 40 years old, with long, wavy, dark blonde hair flared out almost like “wings” at the jawline. Among other investigative tasks, police seized evidence and have canvassed the neighbourhood, but at this stage have not identified the suspect.
Regina residents are reminded to lock exterior doors, not just when you leave your home but also when you are at home. Anyone with information that could assist police in this investigation is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 777-6500 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-TIPS (8477).
