The Regina Police Service is asking the public, especially in North West Regina, to be on the lookout for suspicious activity. This comes as the result of eleven similar incidents of mischief reported to police in the past two days. Ten of these reports refer to incidents in the northwest and one is from the west (very near to NW) part of the city.
Sometime, overnight on 26-27th, 2010, there were five incidents of mischief involving parked vehicles. In each case. the driver’s side mirror was damaged with what some victims believed to be a bat. It is not clear why the victims believed this to be so. The next night, July 27-28th, there were another six incidents with the same sort of damage. There is no description of a suspect, except that one victim reported hearing a vehicle with a loud exhaust system outside their house at approximately 2:00 a.m. on July 28th. There is no further evidence to suggest this vehicle is somehow connected to these incidents.
Residents of the area are asked to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood. If vehicle owners in this area have the option of parking a vehicle inside a garage, it may reduce the likelihood of further incidents of mischief. Even choosing to park on one’s driveway, rather than on the street, may reduce the opportunity for this crime to occur. If you see a crime in progress, call 9-1-1 and, if possible, observe and gather a description of suspects or suspect vehicles. Anyone who has information on any of these investigations is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 777-6500 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
