A 48 year-old Regina male made a first court appearance in Provincial Court today on twenty Break & Enter related charges, involving seven Regina businesses.
Since July 1-2, 2010, a number of incidents of Break, Enter and Commit Theft have been carried out at Regina businesses. These include a gas station, restaurant, vending machine business, a pool hall, a hot tub retailer, department store and telecommunications retail outlet. Three of the businesses were broken into more than once; the businesses are located in the East and North East parts of the city, except for one location in the 2600 block of 7th Avenue. All of the incidents were under active investigation, but police had not been able to locate suspects. On August 1, 2010, plainclothes officers observed a male believed to be involved in these offences at the rear of a business in the 1600 block of Park Street. The male is alleged to have been prying at the back door of the business in what police believe was an attempt to break in. The male was arrested and subsequent investigation led to the execution of a search warrant on the suspect’s residence. Further investigation led to police gathering evidence to support charges in eight Break and Enters and three Attempted Break and Enters.
