The Regina Police Service “Traffic Focus of the Month” for October is infractions at traffic intersections. In the coming month, the Regina Police Service will work at raising awareness of common infractions that occur in intersections and encouraging motorists to practice safe driving habits. Public education is one facet of the campaign; directed enforcement targeting these infractions, through the “Traffic Focus of the Month”, is another.
Police remind motorists to: always wear seatbelts, comply with the posted speed limit, follow other traffic at a safe distance, do not attempt lane changes in or near intersections, and always drive defensively. Driving behaviour like: using a cellphone for talking or texting, failing to prepare to stop at amber lights, failing to come to a complete stop at stop signs, and failing to yield right of way to oncoming traffic when turning, are a few of the factors that contribute to major collisions at intersections.
As part of the “Traffic Focus of the Month” for October, the Regina Police Service will be conducting enforcement aimed at reducing infractions at intersections. The Regina Police Service commends those motorists who practice safe driving habits and encourages all drivers to respect the rules of the road. Remember, being a better driver at intersections will decrease the number of major collisions and make Regina a safer community for all.
