Four individuals: a 14 year-old female and three males ages 16, 17 and 18 are facing charges in connection with the recovery of two stolen vehicles yesterday in Regina.
On Monday, September 26, 2011, at about 12:12 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of the 4600 block of Malcolm Drive for a report of an auto theft in progress. As one police unit arrived to gather information, a canine officer dispatched to the same call located the vehicle, a Mazda 3, at Hames Crescent and Malcolm Drive. Two suspects were trying to use the Mazda 3 to boost another vehicle, a Mazda Tribute. Two other suspects were sitting in the back seat of the Mazda 3. Police investigation confirmed the Mazda Tribute to be a stolen vehicle as well. One of the suspects was found to be in possession of the controlled substance, methamphetamine. The four were subsequently charged in connection with these events.
Three of the accused are under 18 and cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. All are charged with two counts of Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000. [355(a) CC]. The 14 year-old female is also charged with a Breach of Undertaking and the 17 year-old male is charged with Possession of Controlled Substance [4(1) CDSA]. The three youths appeared in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. The 18 year-old is Chase Abraham PAUL, DOB: 1993-04-16, of Regina, who is facing two charges of Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000. [355(a) CC] and a breach of court ordered conditions. PAUL made his court appearance in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, September 27, 2011.
