The Regina Police Service would like to extend an invitation to the public and the media to attend Showcase (formerly Open House) on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the Brandt Centre, Evraz Place. Shows run from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at. Admission is free. There is a concession available for attendees (Showcase “special” is a hot dog and drink for $4.00).
One of the highlights of Showcase is a crime scenario that will engage members of several units within the Police Service including Patrol, Canine, the Explosives Disposal Unit, Crisis Negotiators and SWAT. Spectators will watch as the incident develops in real time with different units arriving at the scene. As in previous years, the Canine Section will delight the crowd with an agility and skills demonstration. There will also be displays from different sections within the Regina Police Service, community partners, and other partners in law enforcement.
Police Service employees, retired officers and members of the Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association will be volunteering their time to help welcome guests to the Regina Police Service Showcase.
The Regina Police Service Showcase is a way of thanking the public for its support. This event also brings police and community, especially children, together in a venue where the Regina Police Service can proudly display the work of its many highly-trained, skilled and dedicated employees. Showcase is a valued recruitment opportunity, encouraging young people to consider the possibilities offered by a career in policing with the Regina Police Service.
