The Regina Police Service wishes to thank Regina residents, the public and especially motorists for their patience during yesterday’s Royal Visit.
The visit to Regina by Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was part of a Canadian tour marking the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The Regina Police Service’s role in the Royal Visit was to assist the RCMP and Heritage Canada by providing local logistics and security. Logistics is the planning, implementation and co-ordination of the details of an operation. For Regina motorists and the public, that translated to some traffic delays and disruptions to people’s normal routines as the Royal couple was transported safely and without delay to a number of venues in the Queen City. To carry out such a plan requires many hours of planning, numerous resources and tremendous co-operation from all. There will certainly be further evaluation of this aspect of the Royal Visit, but the early consensus is that the plan went very well.
Today, the Regina Police Service is receiving thanks for well-devised logistics, but the “Thank You” also belongs to the Regina public for its patience and grace in receiving our Royal visitors.
