The Regina Police Service is reminding motorists and the public of the Treaty 4 Grass Roots Movement’s Reconciliation Ride and Walk today, Wednesday, January 16th starting at 12:00 p.m. with drummers and Horse Riders. The Ride/Walk will affect traffic coming from the north into Regina on Highway #11 and Highway #6. At approximately 12:00 p.m., the riders will assemble at Inland Drive and Highway #6 and proceed south into Regina where they will be joined by marchers at Albert and 5th Avenue. The combined group will continue south on Albert Street to the Saskatchewan Legislative Building.
The Regina Police Service and the RCMP will escort the riders and marchers to ensure traffic and pedestrian safety. We encourage motorists to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. Bear in mind that everyone has fundamental freedoms including freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, as well as freedom of peaceful assembly. The police presence accompanying this Ride/Walk is to ensure safety for all.
The Regina Police will be diverting southbound traffic on Highway #11 onto Pasqua Street. The RCMP will be diverting southbound traffic off Highway #6 until the riders have passed Albert Street and 9th Avenue North. Please slow down and follow the police officers’ directions.
