The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Canadian Pacific Railway, is conducting a death investigation after the sudden death of a 39-year-old male early this morning (January 12, 2013).
At approximately 03:00 hrs on Saturday January 12, 2013, the Regina Police Service responded to a report of an injured male in the Canadian Pacific Railway Yard on Dewdney Avenue. Police and EMS arrived and located the body of a male in the rail yard. EMS confirmed the male deceased. The Coroner and CP Rail officials also attended the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates the deceased male is an employee for CP Rail and although the exact circumstances of the victim’s death are the subject of investigation, preliminary indications are the victim was fatally injured by a train movement in the Regina rail yard. At this point in the investigation, this death does not appear to be suspicious.
The name of the victim will not be released at this time. Immediate next-of-kin have been notified. The investigation is ongoing. There are no other details for release at this time.
