A 13 year-old Regina female has been charged with Arson, after investigation into an incident on June 12, 2013, at a store in a downtown shopping mall in Regina.
Police and firefighters were dispatched to the original incident at about 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, to a store in the Cornwall Centre downtown. The preliminary investigation showed that someone had tried to start fires in the business lighting merchandise. The store was evacuated and fortunately no one was hurt in this incident. The fires caused about $1,000 damage. Investigation into this incident led to the arrest on July 18, 2013 of a 13 year-old girl. She has been charged in this ongoing investigation.
The 13 year-old female cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. She has been charged with Arson/Damage to Property, contrary to section 434 of the Criminal Code of Canada. She will make her first court appearance on this charge in Youth Court at 2:00 p.m. today, Thursday, July 18, 2013.
