At 8:05, this morning, police responded to a robbery call at Pasqua Street North and Halleran Crescent. A taxi cab driver reported being robbed by 4 teenage males. He was pepper sprayed during the robbery attempt. Suspects also pepper sprayed a citizen who was attempting to photograph the suspect as they were fleeing. A third male, who was in the area, was punched in the face by the fleeing suspects. No one was seriously injured.
Police units responded quickly and apprehended 3 of the suspects near the scene. A 4th suspect was arrested in a home in North Regina later in the morning.
Three males arrested are 18 years old and one male is 17.
The incident is still under investigation. Charges are pending completion of the investigation.
UPDATE:
Two 18 year old males are being charged with Robbery with Violence and Assault with a weapon. They will be appearing in court Monday morning on the charges.
One 18 year old male is being charged with Breach of Undertaking (Curfew) and Resist Arrest. He will be released from custody tonight by a Justice of the Peace.
A 17 year old male was released without charge.
2nd UPDATE:
A member of the Regina Police Service deployed a CEW in the arrest of one of the suspects in this incident. The deployment occurred in the arrest of one of the 18 year old suspects, who was arrested at a residence in northwest Regina after the robbery. This information is being released in keeping with the Regina Police Service’s commitment to inform the public every time a CEW is discharged against a person. The suspect was examined by EMS as per policy and sustained no injuries. The use of the CEW has been documented as per policy and will be reviewed by a Use of Force Committee, a committee within the Service. All uses of force are also reported to the Saskatchewan Police Commission.
