A 20 year-old male, of no fixed address, has been charged with Attempt Murder and a firearms-related charge, in connection with a shooting that sent a 19 year-old Regina male to hospital with serious injuries.
Preliminary investigation into this event indicates: on Friday, April 25, 2014, at about 8:00 p.m., a 19 year-old male was walking westbound on the north sidewalk of 4th Avenue, west of Athol Street. It’s alleged a vehicle passed him, travelling westbound and then stopped. It’s further alleged a male exited the vehicle, approached the victim on foot and discharged a shotgun at the victim. The male then got back into the vehicle and fled the scene. Police and EMS arrived and transported the male victim to hospital. Investigation into this incident led police to arrest a 20 year-old male on April 26, 2014, and charge him with attempted murder. The weapon was located and seized by police. Police are continuing to investigate all aspects of this case, including the possibility that this may be gang-related. Further charges are anticipated.
Twenty year-old Kenyon Ralph KAY, DOB: 1993-05-23, of no fixed address, has been charged with Attempt Murder [239 CC]; and Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition [117.01(1) CC]. KAY will make his first appearance on the charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014.
