The Regina Police service has laid charges in Thursday’s arrest of an adult male involving the deployment of a CEW, or Conducted Energy Weapon, also commonly known as a Taser. This arrest occurred just before 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014.
At approximately 2:49 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014, police were dispatched to Bruce Place, in the Normanview neighbourhood, for a report of a male, in the street, who was causing a disturbance. The preliminary indication was that the male appeared to be intoxicated, was acting out, physically hitting vehicles and yelling. He also appeared to have blood on his face and hands. Police arrived on the scene and, in order to take the 29 year-old male safely into custody, a CEW was deployed. The male was transported to hospital by EMS for assessment. Police determined that the male had come from a residence on the street and, when they entered the premises, they found an adult female who had sustained an apparent stab wound to the leg. The female victim also appeared highly intoxicated. She was transported to hospital with what was described as a non-life-threatening injury. During the incident police spoke with a 32 year-old male at the address and investigation revealed he was in breach of undertaking unrelated to the original call.
