The Regina Police Service has laid charges in connection with an explosion and house fire that occurred in the 100 block of Cooper Crescent on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Three people: two males and a female have been charged. Further charges are anticipated.
This investigation began on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, when police were dispatched to a house in the 100 block of Cooper Crescent to assist other emergency responders already on scene. Callers described an explosion and fire at the house and people injured. When police arrived, the house was engulfed in flames and there was a great deal of smoke. EMS transported three males to hospital: a 35 year-old, a (then) 28 year-old and a 19 year-old. The 28 year-old male had injuries described as relatively minor; the other two males had injuries described as serious. Investigation into these matters determined that the explosion was the result of illegal drug activity in the home. Three people are now facing charges in connection to this event; the matter is ongoing.
Fifty-eight year-old Bernice Lynn BLOOR, DOB: 1957-04-02 and 29 year-old Adel ESSID, DOB: 1986-03-13, both of Regina, have been charged with Production of a Scheduled Substance (cannabis resin) [7(1) CDSA] and Obstruct a Peace Officer [129(a) CC]. ESSID made his first appearance in Provincial Court on May 6, 2015. BLOOR made her first court appearance in Provincial Court on May 19, 2015.
Nineteen year-old Kyle Nicholas SILLER, DOB: 1995-08-07, of Regina, has been charged with Production of a Scheduled Substance (cannabis resin) [7(1) CDSA]; Possession of a Scheduled Substance (cannabis marihuana) [4(1) CDSA] and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 [355(a) CC]. SILLER will make his court appearance in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on July 14, 2015.
