The Regina Police Service is reminding motorists that this Sunday: September 13, 2015, is QCM time in Regina once again. The Queen City Marathon gets underway on Sunday morning and the final full-marathoners will cross the finish line early in the afternoon. That means some road closures and traffic stops to ensure the safety of runners, volunteers and spectators. Motorists are asked to take note of the following detours and adjust travel plans accordingly to avoid frustration on race day.
The following streets will be affected from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:
- Albert Street (single-lane vehicle traffic both north-bound and south-bound) from 23rd Avenue to College Avenue;
- Broad Street (both lanes closed to traffic, north-bound and south-bound) from Broadway Avenue to 23rd Avenue, and later on from Quinn Drive to Wascana Drive.
In effect, this means motorists crossing north to south and vice-versa on Sunday morning can choose either the #1 Bypass and Ring Road or Lewvan Drive to avoid inconvenience. The Regina Police Service is committed to the safety of all users of our roads. The Queen City Marathon has obtained all the necessary permissions and additional traffic safety support for this event. Please, give a marathoner a break this Sunday: plan an alternate driving route, be patient, courteous and, above all, get to your destination safely. Thank-you for your cooperation, and good luck to all the runners & walkers!
