As the result of ongoing investigation, members of the Regina Police Service Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Crisis Negotiators, Canine and Patrol teams executed a high-risk, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant on a residence in the 3400 block of Dewdney Avenue this morning (Wednesday, December 23, 2015). This was a planned operation, not a response to an emergency situation.
In total, the operation involved approximately 35 members including personnel at the scene and incident command at police headquarters. Police established a safety perimeter in the area prior to 10:00 a.m. and made entry into the house, without incident, at approximately 10:05 a.m. In all, six adults: five males and one female; were taken safely into custody. Further investigation will determine what roles, if any, they have in this case. In addition, police were assisted by Animal Control to safely apprehend and care for a number of dogs that were in the residence. Police are currently searching the premises and investigation continues. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
There are no other details for release at this time. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area has returned to normal. The Regina Police Service thanks the public for its cooperation and patience.
