On January 22, 2016, at approximately 2:00 am police were dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of Markwell Drive for the report of a fire.
Upon arrival, Regina Fire and Protective Services and EMS were on scene. RFPS had extinguished the fire and EMS attended to a 48 year-old male who was burned. The male was confirmed deceased.
The incident is the subject of a combined agency investigation; The Office of the Chief Coroner will investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the male. Regina Fire and Protective Services will investigate to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Police will investigate any possible criminal aspect to this case. The scene is being held for further investigation.
The deceased’s next-of-kin have been notified. His name will not be released at this time.
