The Regina Police Service and RCMP “Depot” Division are teaming up this weekend to help out the Regina Food Bank.
On Saturday, February 6th, 2016 and Sunday, February 7th, 2016, RCMP “Depot” Division and the Regina Police Service will have members at the Sherwood Co-op Grocery Store on Albert Street & 25th Avenue, standing by with SUVs open, shoving in as much food as they can fit into the SUV, for the Regina & District Food Bank. The idea came to one of the current recruits at the RCMP Academy who saw it on social media and wanted to organize one here before graduating. Officers will be parked in the parking lot from noon (1200hrs) to 5:00 p.m. (1700hrs) both days, accepting donations and cramming the cruisers full. The goal is to fill multiple loads and help the Food Bank as much as they can.
The public is encouraged to help out if they can and drop off goods and come say hello to the officers. Kids will be able to check out the police vehicles and see what it’s like to sit inside, as well as receive police swag from both services. There will be a brief media event at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6th, 2016, and members of the media are encouraged to attend.
