The Regina Police Service is currently investigating a bomb threat received this morning at Winston Knoll High School. The school itself has been evacuated and nearby Riffel High School is in secure-the-building mode.
Police were notified by the Regina Board of Education this morning, Monday, April 25, 2016, of a bomb threat received at Winston Knoll High School, in the 5200 block of Rochdale Boulevard. There are currently a number of police officers at the scene. Winston Knoll was evacuated at the start of the lunch hour. Students who normally remain at the school over the noon hour were taken to neighbouring Riffel High School, which has been placed in secure-the-building mode. Secure-the-building is a situation in which designated school staff and police monitor anyone entering or leaving the building. Regular indoor activities continue in a controlled manner.
Police are continuing to investigate this incident. Investigators have not established that this is a credible threat, but police and school administrators are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students, staff and members of the public. More information will be released as more details are available.
