The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, continues to investigate the death, yesterday evening, of a 37 year-old Regina male.
The investigation began with police dispatched about 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, to the 1300 block of Elphinstone Street, for a report of an injured male. The injured person was found, collapsed, on the sidewalk. Officers performed CPR until EMS arrived and transported the male to hospital. The male was confirmed deceased, in hospital, at about 8:30 p.m. The Coroner was requested, along with members of the Forensic Identification and Major Crimes units, with Patrol assisting in scene control and investigative tasks.
The deceased male has been identified and his family has been notified of his death: however, his name will not be released at this time. The Coroner has ordered an autopsy to determine, among other things, cause and manner of death. There are/have been a number of investigative activities (both last night and today) including neighbourhood inquiries; searches of the area for any physical evidence; and gathering information about the deceased, himself. This investigation will continue, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.
