Two Regina male youths are charged after a stolen auto incident on Sunday evening.
On Sunday, July 24th, 2016, at approximately 7:32 p.m. a Regina Police Service Street Crimes Unit officer observed a confirmed stolen vehicle from Moose Jaw, on Winnipeg Street and 12th Avenue. Officers continued surveillance on it for approximately one hour, then successfully deployed a spike belt at Parker Avenue and Massey Road to stop the vehicle. The stolen auto proceeded to Gardiner Avenue and Knowles Crescent, where the two males fled from the scene. One of the males was located by officers and the second male was located by a member of the Canine Unit, who was subsequently bitten from contact with the Police Service Dog, and was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The male youths charged cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The fourteen and sixteen year-old males are each facing charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 [Sec 355(B), CC], and Fail to Comply with Disposition [Sec 137, YCJA].Both youths will make their first appearances on these charges in Youth Provincial Court today, July 25
