A 29 year-old male, from Ontario, has been arrested and charged in connection with the robbery of a financial institution in Regina on Monday, September 19, 2016. A female, known to the accused, was arrested on an unrelated breach.
On September 19, 2016, just after 4:00 p.m., a male entered a financial institution in the 2400 block of 7th Avenue North. The male approached an employee with a note containing an indication of a firearm and the threat to use it. The employee complied with his demands for money and the male fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Investigation into this robbery led police to identify viable suspects and the arrest of a 29 year-old male on September 21st, in the area of Dewdney and Albert Street. Police also arrested a female at the same time for a breach of undertaking. The male was subsequently charged in connection to the robbery and breaches.
Twenty-nine John PALENKAS, DOB: 1987-06-10, of no fixed address, has been charged with Robbery with Violence, s. 343(a) CC; Breach of Undertaking, s. 145(3) CC; and three charges of Breach of Probation, s. 733.1(1) CC. PALENKAS made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Thursday, September 22, 2016.
Thirty-one year-old Catlin DORVAL, DOB: 1985-01-05, of Regina, has been charged with a Breach of Undertaking, s. 145(5.1) CC. DORVAL was released on a Recognizance and will make her first court appearance on the charge in Provincial Court on November 1, 2016.
