On September 27, 2016, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Regina Police Service members observed a vehicle driving erratically at an extremely high rate of speed on Albert Street. Police officers attempted to stop the vehicle at Albert Street and 1st Avenue North, however the vehicle evaded them and police members discontinued their attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was last seen by police north bound on Albert Street. After having lost sight of the suspect auto, the Regina Police Service Communication’s Center received two calls reporting this car driving in a dangerous manner.
At approximately 1:40 a.m. police attended to the 2100 block of 9th Ave. N. to respond to a report of a single vehicle accident. It appeared that the eastbound vehicle lost control and hit a tree. The lone occupant, a 37 year-old female, was deceased at the scene. Officers at the scene were able to confirm the vehicle involved in the accident was the same vehicle officers had attempted to stop earlier.
There is no more information at this time as it is early in the investigation which will continue.
