At approximately 08:35 pm on December 26, 2016, police were dispatched to a business in the 3100 block of Avonhurst Drive for a report of a robbery.
A lone female had entered the business wearing a mask covering her face and was carrying an axe. The suspect demanded money and was given an undisclosed amount. The suspect fled the business as a staff member followed her. A short struggle ensued before the suspect was able to get away.
Police attended the location and searched the area to locate the suspect fleeing in a nearby easement. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The arrest led to the recovery of the stolen cash and the seizure of the weapon used. The suspect was transported to hospital for treatment for a minor injury sustained during the struggle with the business staff. While at the hospital the suspect became confrontational and came at police with a syringe. A C.E.W. (Conducted Electrical Weapon) was deployed on the suspect to gain control of her.
