Four male youths: ages 13 to 16, have been charged after an incident of mischief in which a pellet gun was discharged toward a house in the 1600 block of Rae Street.
Police were dispatched at about 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, to a house in the 1600 block of Rae Street. The homeowner reported that a projectile had broken her window and she observed suspects running into a nearby house. Police investigation indicated there’d been a confrontation between a group of males and another male youth out on the street. It’s alleged one of the youths held a pellet gun up to the victim and tried to fire it, but it malfunctioned. The victim went into a house and it’s alleged the pellet gun was discharged toward the house, breaking the window. Police arrested four male youths without incident and jointly charged them in connection with this incident.
The youths cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Two are 16 years of age; one is 15 and one is 13 years old. They are jointly charged with Assault with a Weapon, s. 267(a) CC; Mischief under $5,000, s. 430(4) CC; and Discharge Air Pistol with Intent, s. 244.1(a) CC. Three of the four are also charged with breaches. All four made their first court appearances on these charges in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
