The Regina Police Service is continuing its investigation into a shooting early yesterday morning, Monday, May 29, 2017. While there are still many outstanding questions with respect to the firearms offence, investigators believe this was not a random occurrence. In the course of this investigation, police have obtained evidence of drug trafficking and charged two males in connection to the drug offences.
At approximately 3:25 a.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017, police were dispatched to the 200 block of Fines Drive for a report of what sounded like gunshots. Police attended and located a 24 year-old male, who was taken to hospital by EMS. The victim has since been released from hospital. Investigation into this event appears to indicate a shooting, outdoors in the 200 block of Fines Drive. Investigation into this aspect of the case is still active and ongoing. This investigation led police to a residence in the 300 block of Fines Drive. An adult male in the residence was found to be in breach of release conditions and placed under arrest. Officers obtained a search warrant for the property and located paraphernalia associated to drug trafficking including scales, drug residue, a bundle of cash, documents and cell phones. A second adult male was arrested in connection to this investigation and both males were subsequently charged in connection with the drug offences.
Twenty-six year-old Amin ILMI, DOB: 1991-02-09, of Edmonton, Alberta, and 24 year-old Terrell King CARR, DOB: 1993-05-18, of Regina, are jointly charged with:
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), s. 5(2) CDSA; and
Possession of the Proceeds of Crime over $5,000, s. 355(a) CC.
In addition, ILMI is charged with Breach of Undertaking, s. 145(3) CC. Both accused made their first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017.
Investigation into these matters is ongoing.
