A 26 year-old Regina male is facing a number of charges after investigation into a stolen truck incident in Regina.
On Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at about 5:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to an East Regina neighbourhood for a report that a male suspect had stolen a truck and used the owner’s credit cards. When police arrived the complainant was holding the suspect down on the ground. The complainant alleged the male had stolen his truck sometime the night of June 19th and then used the victim’s credit cards overnight. The victim obtained information that led to identification of a viable suspect. When police arrived, they found this suspect to be the subject of warrants so he was arrested. He was initially charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer and a Breach of Recognizance. Further investigation led to charges in connection with the theft of the victim’s truck. The vehicle has been recovered. Investigation is ongoing.
Twenty-six year-old James Christopher KANE, DOB: 1990-11-30, of Regina is charged with:
- Breach of Recognizance, s. 145(3) CC;
- Obstruct Peace Officer, s. 129(a) CC;
- Theft over $5,000. S. 334(a) CC;
- Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000, s. 355(a) CC;
- Mischief under $5,000, s. 430(4) CC.
KANE will make his first court appearance on these charges at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 (today), in Provincial Court.
