Two males: a 27 year-old and a 16 year-old, are facing charges in connection with investigation into a stolen auto in the early morning hours of Friday, August 25, 2017.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017, police on patrol in the area of Green Willow Terrace observed a parked vehicle, which appeared out of place. A check of the license plate confirmed that the vehicle was stolen. The officers requested a canine unit to the area to assist in a search for possible suspects. While waiting with the vehicle, the officers heard noise coming from a building under construction. One of the officers drove the police car to investigate the sounds; the other remained near the stolen auto. Two males approached, running toward the stolen vehicle. The officer at that location challenged the suspects; one male dropped a machete he was carrying and lay down on the ground, the other male fled. The canine officer and dog arrived on scene and assisted in searching the area, eventually apprehending the second suspect in a nearby back yard. The dog made contact with the suspect, who was treated in hospital for his injuries. Several items, including debit cards and garage door openers were located inside the vehicle. Further investigation led to charges against both males.
