Two young persons: females ages 12 and 14, are facing theft charges in connection with three incidents of theft from auto which occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 5, 2017.
On Tuesday, September 5th, at approximately 2:00 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of the 1500 block of Neville Crescent. A witness indicated seeing two girls checking several car doors and then getting into an unoccupied vehicle. Police went to the area and located two young females who were in possession of several items, including an electronic tablet, cables, cash, flashlights, clothing, cigarettes and lighters. Further investigation led to the conclusion that these items had been stolen from vehicles on the street. Both girls were charged, processed and then released for a later court date.
The girls cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The 14 year-old and 12 year-old females are jointly charged with three charges of Theft under $5,000 [334(b) CC]. Both were released on an Officer Undertaking to appear in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.
