A 31 year-old male, who was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant for arrest in the murder of 51 year-old Daniel Richard DIPAOLO, will make his first court appearance in Regina Provincial Court today on a charge of First Degree Murder.
Daniel DIPAOLO was the first victim of homicide in Regina in 2017. He was discovered, deceased, just after 5:40 a.m., in a residence in the 700 block of Garnet Street on Saturday, April 29, 2017. The warrant seeking the arrest of 31 year-old Johnathen Edward KAKEWASH, DOB: 1985-10-10, of Winnipeg, in connection to the murder of DIPAOLO, was obtained in June of this year. However, he was not located and arrested until August 4, 2017, when Winnipeg Police Service arrested him on weapons-related charges, in Winnipeg. Once the charges in Winnipeg were dealt with, KAKEWASH was arrested and charged on the DIPAOLO matter. Three other males are also charged in this case. The arrest of Edward GENAILLE, DOB: 1966-02-04, of Regina, occurred in May 6, 2017. The arrests of 34 year-old Christopher Matthew BRASS, DOB: 1982-09-08, of no fixed address, Winnipeg, and 25 year-old Malcolm MITCHELL, DOB: 1992-05-26, of no fixed address, Winnipeg, occurred in June, 2017.
Thirty-one year-old Johnathen Edward KAKEWASH, DOB: 1985-10-10, of Winnipeg, is charged with First Degree Murder [235 CC]. He will make his first court appearance on the charge in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017.
