The Regina Police Service joins other police agencies across the country in expressing concern for an Edmonton Police Service officer injured in a violent collision and stabbing, as well as several Edmonton residents struck by a truck in what are believed to be related incidents on Saturday, September 30th. The events occurred near Commonwealth Stadium and in downtown Edmonton.
The Regina Police Service has been in contact with the RCMP National Security Unit which advises that there has been no change in threat assessment at a national level. There are no known threats by individuals in our city or province. At this time, the events in Edmonton appear to be isolated events carried out by a single perpetrator. The Regina Police Service will continue to communicate regularly with the RCMP and the network of police and law enforcement agencies across Canada. Operational plans for upcoming events in Regina always include any pertinent information on recent events elsewhere in our country.
