The Regina Police Service ran its second BusCop Initiative during the month of October. The Traffic Safety Unit also ran a few other side projects (not using a bus, but still looking for distracted drivers). Here are the stats from the Traffic Safety Unit’s distracted driving initiatives in the month of October.
• 19 projects in October
• 83 distracted driving (cell phone, etc.) tickets
• 55 other infraction tickets (seatbelts, unregistered/unlicensed drivers, other)
The Regina Police Service would like to thank Regina Transit and the City of Regina for their cooperation and participation in this initiative. Our Traffic Safety Unit officers will continue to look for distracted drivers, however, we urge you as drivers, to be a part of the solution. Put down the phone and drive. A text/Facebook post/Tweet/Snap/video/etc. is not worth your life or someone else’s life.
