Two adult males have been charged in connection with a stolen auto incident in Regina last night. The arrests were made, without incident, in the 100 block of East Broadway Avenue, at about 6:20 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2017.
This incident began at about 5:44 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2017, when a member of the Canine Unit, who was driving on 17th Avenue, spotted a green Acura approaching from the opposite direction. Recalling that there was a green Acura on the current list of stolen vehicles, the officer checked the license plate, confirming the vehicle to be a stolen auto. The vehicle was seen pulling into a garage in the 100 block East Broadway Avenue, and two males were seen running into the house at that address. Officers were able to get into the area quickly and, as they were attempting to make contact with the occupants of the house, a male, matching the description of one suspect, emerged and was taken into custody. The second male initially refused to come out, but officers eventually negotiated two males and two females out of the house, at approximately 8:45 p.m. One of the males in this group matched the description of the second suspect male. He was taken into custody without incident. Both males were charged in connection with the stolen vehicle. A search of the property yielded a sawed-off rifle. Investigation with respect to the firearm is ongoing.
