Two males: one of them a 16 year-old youth; are facing charges following an investigation into a robbery, which occurred at about 4:00 a.m. today at a business in the 1100 block of Devonshire Drive.
Police received a report of a robbery at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018. The initial information indicated two males entered a business in the 1100 block of Devonshire Drive; one male was armed with a bladed weapon. The suspects demanded cash and merchandise from the employees of the business. The males fled the scene in a dark-coloured vehicle. There were police units in the area when the report of the robbery came in. Patrol members saw a dark, Ford Ranger driving at a high speed east bound on Rochdale Boulevard. They activated emergency equipment, but the vehicle did not stop. Officers successfully deployed a spike-belt and arrested the occupants of the vehicle without further incident. It was determined the vehicle was stolen. A bladed weapon was among items seized in the search of the vehicle. Further investigation led to charges against two individuals.
Eighteen year-old Keegan MACHISKINIC, of Regina, is charged with:
– Robbery, s. 344(1)(b) CC;
– Theft of a Motor Vehicle, s. 333.1(1) CC;
– Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000, s. 355(b) CC; and
– Breach of Probation.
MACHISKINIC made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
The 16 year-old, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with:
– Robbery, s. 344(1)(b) CC;
– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, s. 249(1)(a) CC;
– Flight While Pursued by Police, s. 249.1(1) CC;
– Robbery with a Disguise, s. 351(2);
– Theft of a Motor Vehicle, s. 333.1(1) CC; and
– Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000, s. 355(b) CC.
This youth was also charged with Theft from Auto [334(b) CC] and Theft of a Motor Vehicle [333.1(1) CC] in connection with incidents that occurred in Regina on November 8, 2017. The accused made his first court appearance on these charges in Youth Court at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Investigation into these, and other matters, is ongoing.
