On Monday, April 23, 2018, at approximately 6:11 a.m., police were dispatched to the Pasqua Hospital for the report of a gunshot wound.
Information was received alleging that, earlier that morning, an 18 year-old male was walking in the area of 8th Avenue and Cameron Street when a vehicle approached, and a male got out and discharged a firearm, shooting the 18 year-old male. The injured male made it home on foot and was transported to hospital by a family member. His injuries are described as non-life threatening.
Shortly after 8:40 a.m., police received a report of a mischief at a residence on the 4800 block of Sherwood Drive, where a window was broken. At approximately 10:15 am, police were dispatched to the same residence for the report of a firearm. Information received was that a vehicle showed up in front of the address and a passenger pointed a firearm at the house, and drove away. The vehicle matched the description of the vehicle involved in the earlier firearm discharge.
Areas searches were conducted, and the suspect vehicle was located in the area 900 block of Royal Street. Four suspects were seen exiting the vehicle, but eluded police. The vehicle was seized. Investigation led to a residence on the same block. Police located and arrested all four suspects. A search revealed a firearm, pepper spray, substances believed to be methamphetamine and cocaine, and a quantity of marijuana.
A 15 year-old male, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Attempt murder using a firearm [CC 239(1)(A.1)];
- Reckless discharge of restricted/prohibited firearm at a place [CC 244.2(1)(A)];
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon in motor vehicle [CC 94(1)(B)];
- Mischief under $5,000 [CC 430(4)];
- 2 X Pointing a firearm [CC 87];
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 [CC 355(A)];
- 3 X Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 [CC 355(B)];
- Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition [CC 95(1)(B)];
- Possession of a weapon [CC 88];
- Carry concealed weapon [CC 90];
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm [CC 91(1)];
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- Possession of a weapon obtained by crime [CC 96(1)];
- Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cannabis) [CDSA 5(2)];
- Fail to comply [CC 145(3);
- Fail to comply [YCJA 137]; and
- Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with [CC 108(1)(B)].
Nineteen year-old Kashtin Earlin Creed QUEWEZANCE, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine) [CDSA 5(2)]; and
- Fail to comply with probation order [CC 733.1(1)].
A 17 year-old male, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) [CDSA 5(2)]; and
- Fail to comply [YCJA 137].
A 15 year-old male, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Possession of a weapon obtained by crime [CC 96(1)];
- Possession of a weapon [CC 88];
- Fail to comply [YCJA 137]; and
- Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cannabis) [CDSA 5(2)].
