A 25 year-old male is charged after an incident over the weekend where fireworks were discharged towards the “Justice for our Stolen Children” camp.
On Sunday, August 12, 2018, at approximately 2:00 AM, police were dispatched to 2400 Legislative Drive after a report that a Roman candle (a firework which shoots pyrotechnics) was discharged toward the protest camp in Wascana Park. It was reported that a male exited one of the vehicles parked at the Legislative Building parking lot, discharged the Roman candle, which shot multiple flammable projectiles toward the protest camp, then subsequently fled in a vehicle.
Investigation into this incident led to a 25 year-old male, who was arrested and charged.
Twenty-five year-old Brent HOLLAND, of Yorkton, is charged with:
- Assault with a weapon [CC 267(A)];
- Mischief under $5,000 [CC 430(4)];
- Uttering threats [CC 264.1(1)(B)]; and
- Arson with disregard for human life [CC 433(A)].
HOLLAND was released on a Justice of the Peace undertaking and makes his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on September 17, 2018, at 9:30 a.m.
