A 26 year-old Regina male has been charged in connection with a Hit & Run collision earlier this month that sent a 19 year-old victim to hospital with serious injuries.
The collision occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on August 19, 2018, in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue East. A 19 year-old male victim was transported to hospital, by EMS, with injuries that were described as serious. The preliminary investigation indicated a red SUV-type vehicle was travelling eastbound on Victoria Avenue when it struck a pedestrian, who was walking northbound across Victoria Avenue. The vehicle continued eastbound on Victoria Avenue after striking the pedestrian. The ensuing investigation has been complex, involving many sections of the Regina Police Service. It was determined the vehicle was a red GMC Jimmy, 1999-2004 model. On August 24, 2018, police observed a vehicle matching this description operating in the area of Dewdney Avenue and Albert Street. The vehicle was stopped; the driver was found to be operating without a license and was the subject of warrants under the Traffic Safety Act. Continued investigation into this vehicle and its driver led police to the evidence to charge the male in connection with the Hit & Run collision.
