A 23 year-old male and a 32 year-old female, both from Manitoba, are facing numerous charges related to weapon possession and possession of stolen property over $5000.
On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at about 7:45 a.m., police located an abandoned vehicle on Arcola Avenue, west of the Regina Bypass, which had been reported as stolen in Brandon, Manitoba. Reports indicate that a male and a female had abandoned the vehicle and were heading westwards toward the city.
Police began a search to locate the two suspects, which led to a report of a female matching one of the suspect’s description throwing a bag into a dumpster behind a business on the 3800 block of Eastgate Drive. Police recovered the bag which contained two firearms. The search continued and the female suspect was located at a business on 1900 block of Prince of Wales Drive and arrested. The male suspect was located shortly after on the 1800 block of Victoria Avenue East and arrested without incident.
Twenty-three year-old Justin BELL of Brandon, Manitoba, is charged with:
- Possession of property over $5000 [355(A) CC];
- 2 x Possession of a weapon [88 CC];
- Careless use of firearm [86(1) CC];
- Carrying concealed weapon [90 CC];
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm [91(1) CC];
- Fail to comply with recognizance [145(3) CC]; and
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order [117.01(1) CC].
Thirty-two year-old Robyn BOERSMA of Carberry, Manitoba, is charged with:
- Possession of property over $5000 [355(A) CC];
- 2 x Possession of a weapon [88 CC];
- Careless use of firearm [86(1) CC];
- Carrying concealed weapon [90 CC];
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm [91(1) CC];
- Fail to comply with recognizance [145(3) CC]; and
- Possession of a scheduled substance [4(1) CDSA].
BOERSMA and BELL made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on September 5, 2018 at 9:30 a.m.
