Two adult males face charges of aggravated assault and forcible confinement after investigation into an incident on Saturday night that sent a 36 year-old male to hospital with serious injuries.
On Friday, October 12, 2018, at approximately midnight, police were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of Wascana Street for a report of an injured person. The caller reported that a male, who appeared to have sustained serious injuries, had come to that location asking for help. EMS arrived and transported the victim to hospital. Police learned that the victim had gone to a house in the 1300 block of Wascana Street on October 11th, when an altercation occurred. It was alleged the victim was confined in the house for about 24 hours before he managed to escape. In the initial investigation, four males were taken into custody; two were found to have no involvement in the incident. Two of the males arrested were charged as the result of this investigation.
The accused are 25 year-old Jake Remi GENTES, of Oxbow, Saskatchewan, and 28 year-old Matthew Harry Simon WORRALL, of Regina. The two are jointly charged with Forcible Confinement [279(2) CC] and Aggravated Assault [268(1) CC]. Both GENTES and WORRALL made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018.
