As the result of extensive investigation into eleven recent cases of break and enter to commercial properties, car dealerships, and other businesses, a 55 year-old male has been arrested and now faces numerous criminal charges.
This series of criminal incidents spans a two-week period from September 26th to October 11, 2018. A brief list of dates, incidents, and locations is as follows:
– Sept. 26, 2018 – Break, Enter and Commit Theft – 3800 block Albert Street;
– Sept. 27, 2018 – Theft Under $5,000. – 2300 block 2nd Ave. North;
– Sept 30, 2018 – Break, Enter and Commit Theft – 4800 block Gordon Road;
– Oct. 3, 2018 – Break, Enter and Commit Theft of Auto – 700 block Broad Street;
– Oct. 6-7, 2018 – Break, Enter and Commit Theft – 1800 block 2nd Ave. North;
– Oct. 6-7, 2018 – Theft of Auto – 1800 block 2nd Ave. North;
– Oct. 7, 2018 – Break, Enter and Commit Theft – 1000 block 8th Ave.;
– Oct. 9, 2018 – Break, Enter and Commit Theft – 1100 Kramer Blvd.;
– Oct. 9, 2018 – Break, Enter with Intent to commit – 200 Lakeshore Drive;
– Oct. 9, 2018 – Attempt Break, Enter with Intent to commit – 2300 block 2nd Ave.;
– Oct. 9, 2018 – Attempt Break, Enter with Intent to commit – 1800 block Scarth Street;
– Oct. 9-10, 2018 – Break, Enter and Commit Theft – 500 block Broad Street;
– Oct. 10, 2018 – Break, Enter and Commit Theft – 1400 block Rose Street; and
– Oct. 11, 2018 – Possession of Stolen Property, Weapons – 1400 block Rose Street.
Through investigation, police were able to demonstrate that these incidents likely involved the same suspect. Further investigation led to the identification of this suspect and, on Thursday, October 11, 2018, police located an individual who matched the suspect identified in the break and enter investigations. Investigators were able to safely take the male into custody after a brief struggle. It was discovered he had a handgun in his waistband, which later was found to be a pellet gun. The male was arrested and, after still more investigation, was charged in connection with the afore-mentioned incidents.

– 2 x Break and Enter with Intent to Commit [348(1)(a) CC];
– 4 x Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000. [355(a) CC];
– 2 x Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000. [355(b) CC];
– 7 x Drive While Disqualified [259(4) CC];
– Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace [88 CC];
– Carry Concealed Weapon [90 CC];
– Possess Firearm while Unauthorized [92(1) CC];
– Possession of Firearm Obtained by Crime [96 CC];
– Possession of Firearm contrary to prohibition [117.01(1) CC];
– Theft of Auto [333.1(1) CC];
– Theft under $5,000. [334(b) CC];
– Possession of Break and Enter Tools [351(1) CC]; and
– Possession of a Forged Document with Intent to Commit [368(1)(d) CC].
The male made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018. As there are still ongoing investigative matters with respect to this individual, the name of the accused will not be made available through a Regina Police Service news release at this time.
