Two people are facing multiple charges in relation to fraud after an incident which occurred on Thursday, October 25, 2018.
At approximately 8:00 p.m. on October 25, 2018, police were dispatched to a report of a fraud in progress at a business on the 4500 block of Gordon Road. Reports indicate that a female suspect was attempting to make a purchase using counterfeit U.S. currency. The female, as well as a twenty-seven year-old male, were arrested in relation to this incident. The investigation led to a hotel room containing counterfeiting tools, counterfeit currency, and ID cards.
Twenty-seven year-old Phillip Gregory Peter VANDUZEE, of Saint John, New Brunswick, and twenty-four year-old Rikki Jocelyn Beatrice BEAR, of Regina, are jointly charged with:
- Possession of counterfeit equipment [CC 369(b)];
- Making counterfeit currency, Canadian [CC 449];
- Making counterfeit currency, US [CC 449];
- Possession of counterfeit equipment for the purpose of making counterfeit [458(d)];
- 4 X Fraudulent use of stamp [376(1)(a)];
- 2 X Fraud under $5000 [CC 380(1)(B)];
- 2 X Utter or use counterfeit money [CC 452(A)];
- 2 X Possession of counterfeit money [CC 450(B)];
- 3 X Identity fraud – possession of identity document [CC 56.1(1)];
Twenty-seven year-old Phillip Gregory Peter VANDUZEE, of Saint John, New Brunswick, is also charged with:
- Possession of counterfeit money [CC 450];
- 2 X Identity fraud – possession of identity document [CC 56.1(1)]; and
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 [CC 355(B)].
Twenty-four year-old Rikki Jocelyn Beatrice BEAR, of Regina, is also charged with:
- Possession of counterfeit money [CC 450];
- Utter or use counterfeit money [CC 452(A)];
- Fraud under $5000 [CC 380(1)(B)]; and
- Failure to comply with probation order [733.1(1)].
VANDUZEE and BEAR made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on October 26, 2018, at 2:00 p.m.
