Over several months, the Regina Drug Unit conducted a drug trafficking and public safety investigation in the city. As the investigation unfolded, drug investigators identified that criminal activity and drug trafficking was occurring in the community and the surrounding rural area.
In October, 2018, the Regina Police Service Drug Unit engaged in a joint investigation with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police “F” Division Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit (FSOC) South unit. On October 18, 2018, the municipal and federal policing partners conducted a series of drug enforcement events at multiple locations in the city of Regina and rural area.
In support of public safety and as a result of the enforcement, evidence was collected. Investigators recovered Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Psilocybin, Canadian currency, cellular devices and equipment and items indicative of drug trafficking. These items were collected from three businesses, one residence and two vehicles. Stolen property was also located at enforcement sites and recovered by investigators.
The enforcement was supported by the Regina Police Service Drug, Gang, Patrol and Tactical team as well as RCMP “F” Division FSOC South investigators and the Lumsden and Southey RCMP detachments.
Thirty-seven year-old Jan Curtis FRITZ, of Craven, SK, and 27 year-old Kaila Leigh HAY, of Regina, were arrested and charged as a result of the drug trafficking and public safety investigation and appeared in court on October 19th, 2018.
