A 29 year-old male is facing criminal charges after the vehicle he is alleged to have been operating, early Sunday morning, crashed into the Department of National Defense Armoury in the 1600 block of Elphinstone Street.
On Sunday, December 2, 2018, at approximately 1:22 a.m., police were dispatched to the Armoury, located in the 1600 block of Elphinstone Street, for a report of a motor vehicle collision. Initial reports by witnesses indicated a black van had passed them at a high rate of speed before colliding with the brick wall on the north side of the building. When police arrived they found the doors of the vehicle locked with all airbags deployed. Officers had to break the rear driver side and passenger side windows to gain entry. The sole occupant of the vehicle was not responsive or coherent. EMS and Regina Fire and Protective Services arrived at the scene to cut away parts of the vehicle in order to offer emergency medical care. The driver was taken to hospital by EMS. Investigation into this collision formed the grounds to believe the driver of the vehicle was extremely intoxicated. He was also bound by court orders to abstain from the use of alcohol or drugs. The driver was subsequently charged.
Twenty-nine year-old Timothy Jordan WESAQUATE, of Regina, is facing charges of:
- Drive While Impaired [253(1)(a) CC]; and
- Breach of Recognizance [145(3) CC].
WESAQUATE was released on an Officer Undertaking and will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.
