Traffic flow has returned to normal on Winnipeg Street and in the surrounding area after a weapons call in the 1800 block of Winnipeg Street this morning.
At approximately 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, police were dispatched to a potential firearms call at a house in the 1800 block of Winnipeg Street. Officers arrived, created a safety perimeter and began the process of making contact with the occupants of the house in order to get anyone inside out safely. At this time, police have nine people in custody. They will be interviewed to determine the nature of their involvement, if any, in this event. One of these individuals was found to have received an injury; he was treated at hospital and returned to police headquarters. At this time, there is no identified threat to residents of the area. Neighbours have been advised that things are returning to normal although police will remain on scene at the house until a search warrant can be executed for that residence.
Investigation into this matter is ongoing. As this investigation is in its early stages, no further information is available at this time.
