A 30 year-old Regina male is facing a charge of Attempted Murder in connection with an event that occurred in the 100 block of Dorothy Street, on October 31, 2018. On that date, at approximately 9:43 p.m., police were dispatched to the 100 block of Dorothy Street, for a report of an injured male. Police located the victim and cleared a nearby residence to ensure there were no other injured persons. The 34 year-old male victim had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries that were described as serious, while police remained to conduct investigation and gather evidence.
Continued investigation into this incident by both Patrol and Street Gang Unit members, resulted in identification of a suspect in this case. Additional investigation led to the arrest, on January 25, 2019, of a 30 year-old male, in connection with this shooting incident. The male was subsequently charged with attempted murder and firearms-related charges.
Thirty year-old Keith BEGIN, of no fixed address, Regina, originally of Sudbury, Ontario, is charged with:
- Attempt Murder using a Firearm [239(1)(a.1);
- Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC];
- 5 x Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [117.01(1) CC];
BEGIN made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019.
