On April 12, 2019, as a result of ongoing investigation into drug and firearm activity in the city of Regina, police executed a search warrant on a storage locker on the 6000 block of Diefenbaker Drive. The search yielded four firearms, and a large quantity of ammunition. Investigation into this incident led to a 26 year-old male.
As a result of further investigation, a CDSA search warrant was authorized on April 16, 2019, for a residence in the 100 block of St John Street N. Prior to police entry into the address, the 26 year-old male was observed leaving the residence, and was apprehended by police and arrested. A search of the male resulted in a large amount of Canadian currency as well as quantities of substances believed to be morphine, cocaine, and methamphetamine. A search of the residence revealed a firearm and a substance believed to be fentanyl.
Twenty-six year-old Karl Tyrone LERAT, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl) [CDSA 5(2)];
- Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine) [CDSA 5(2)];
- Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) [CDSA 5(2)];
- Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (morphine) [CDSA 5(2)];
- 5 X Possession of a firearm or restricted weapon obtained by crime [CC 96(1)];
- 5 X Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)];
- 5 X Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- 5 X Possession of a weapon [CC 88];
- 5 X Careless use of a firearm [CC 86(1)];
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime [CC 355(B)]; and
- 7 X Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order [CC 117.01(1)].
LERAT made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, April 17, 2019, at 2:00 p.m.
