The Regina Police Service Drug Unit (RDU), with the assistance of the Regina Special Weapons and Tactics Team, completed two separate investigations and enforcement action on Thursday, May 2, 2019, into illegal drug trafficking within the City of Regina. Two high-risk CDSA search warrants were executed without incident in the 300 block of McIntyre Street and the 1300 block of Athol Street.
As a result of the investigation in the 300 block of McIntyre Street, 39 year-old Tommy Donovan DYKES, and 30 year-old Rita Lynn MOHRBUTTER, both of Regina, are jointly charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl [5(2)CDSA]; and
- Proceeds under $5000 [355(b) CC].
In addition, DYKES was also charged with:
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public [88 CC]; and
- 3 X Breach of a weapons prohibition order [1170.01(1) CC].
As a result of the investigation in the 1300 block of Athol Street, 31 year-old Devon Sean PONACE of Regina, Saskatchewan, and 28 year-old Sydney Kathleen CARTER of Regina, Saskatchewan, are jointly charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine [5(2)CDSA]; and
- Proceeds under $5000 [355(b) CC].
In addition, Devon PONACE was also charged with Breach of undertaking [145(3) CC].
All four accused made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. today (Friday, May 3, 2019).
